Guilty Gear XX: Accent Core Simple Character Guide

Posted

In anticipation of the upcoming re-release, me and my intern decided to make a simple character guide for our favorite fighting game, Guilty Gear, hoping that we would help people unfamiliar to the game understand the amazing cast of characters and showcase what each one is capable of. Check it out below, and let us know what you think!

Change log: 10/25/2012: Tweaked some descriptions, added known players.

Before we start…

This guide is written to be a very simple slice of Guilty Gear XX Accent Core. It does not cover many aspects of the game that you need to study in order to play it effectively. It is a character introduction which you can use to look at all the available characters and choose your favorite based on their gameplay. If you wish to discover more about the game, please check the important links section!

A.B.A.

Pros:

  • Moroha mode makes her one of the strongest characters in the game
  • Moroha mode increases her damage and ground game to the top of the cast
  • Lower execution than most characters

Cons:

  • Outside of being in “Moroha mode”, she is extremely weak
  • You must pay attention to her life and Moroha meter at all times
  • Is a very high risk / high reward character

Goal:

  • Knock the opponent down and activate “MOROHA MODE” through either a blood pack, or key grab. Then proceed to apply offense and force the opponent into a mistake. Manage her Moroha meter carefully and avoid getting knocked down. Use the string Far S -> Crouching HS in Moroha to stay close, then mix up between a throw / low / continuing pressure.

Starts at 3:45; ABA waits patiently for an opportunity to safely enter MOROHA mode. After getting a hit, he ends MOROHA early and re-enters with a double key combo. Patience is a key factor in playing ABA correctly.
